Embassy of Nepal in Ottawa has started to accept the applications for e-Passport from 19 April 2022, the applicants, therefore are kindly requested to apply for e-passport.
***Please set the time zone of your PC to UTC+5:45 before starting the process for online application for new passport or passport renewal.***
Procedure for pre-enrollment for e-Passport:
Pre-enrollment for e-Passport can be done with a PC from the place of residence.
Visit https://emrtds.nepalpassport.gov.np/ and select appropriate application type from the following:
applying for passport for the first time (First Issuance)
Replacement of passport having validity of less than a year (Renewal)
Lost/stolen passports (Replacement- Lost/Stolen)
For damaged passports (Replacement-Damaged)
After selecting appropriate application type, select "Ordinary 34 pages" (66 pages passport is currently unavailable),
Fill up details in four sub-headings, the applicants when applying in Embassies of Nepal are not required to fill National Identity No.,
Upload colour scans of front and back of citizenship copy, current passport (upload page 2 & 3 and 30 & 31 pages of your passport separately), and other relevant documents (note that: colour scans of Minor ID, birth certificate and passport of the Minor along with citizenship, passport and marriage registration certificate of parents are required to be uploaded when applying for the passport of Minor (applicants below 16 years of age),
In book your appointment, click other and select "NE, Ottawa",
Select appropriate date and time for the application, and click on submit,
Print the application form (with bar code) and visit the Embassy for live enrollment on the designated date and time in person.
Bring the following documents for the live enrollment:
1. For Renewal:
printed out application form for e-Passport,
original and copies of Nepali citizenship and passport,
Original and copies of proof of status in Canada (Visa, PR, Study/Work permit),
prepaid self-addressed express return envelope.
2. For Replacement- Lost/Stolen:
printed out application form for e-Passport,
original and copies of Nepali citizenship and passport,
Original and copies of proof of status in Canada (Visa, PR, Study/Work permit),
Police report issued by Canadian Police for the lost passport
prepaid self-addressed express return envelope.
3. For For damaged passports (Replacement-Damaged):
printed out application form for e-Passport,
original and copies of Nepali citizenship and passport,
Original and copies of proof of status in Canada (Visa, PR, Study/Work permit),
prepaid self-addressed express return envelope.
Note: the damaged passport is mandatory to be presented to the Embassy at the time of live enrollment.
4. For First Issuance:
printed out application form for e-Passport,
original and copies of Nepali citizenship and passport,
Original and copies of proof of status in Canada (Visa, PR, Study/Work permit),
prepaid self-addressed express return envelope.
5. For Minor or applicants below 16 years of age:
printed out application form for e-Passport,
original and copies of Nepali Minor ID card, birth certificate and passport,
Original and copies of proof of status in Canada (Visa, PR, Study/Work permit),
original and copies of citizenship, passports and marriage registration certificate of parents
prepaid self-addressed express return envelope.

Note: Passport application form can be paid by debit card or by Money Order/Bank Draft in the name of "Embassy of Nepal, Ottawa.
Distribution of Passport:
e-Passport will be distributed only after 2-3 months from the date of application/payment,
new passport will be sent to the application via prepaid self-addressed express return envelope left at the Embassy.
Other important information:
Photographs are not required.
Applicants are required to come on the date and time as mentioned in the application form. The Embassy will not entertain applications who fail to come on the designated date and time.
Passports having validity of more than a year will not be accepted for renewal.
